Measures the perceived psychological impairment due to physical and mental symptoms of a person within a period of 7 days. SCL-90-R is a multidimensional test which covers the areas of somatization, obsessive-compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid ideation, and psychoticism. The main areas of application of the SCL-90-R are the medical, psychological, medical-psychological, psychosocial, psychotherapeutic, and psychiatric sector.

The respondent is shown descriptive statements on the nine symptom areas of somatization, obsessive-compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid ideation, and psychoticism. He/she rates the intensity with which these symptoms have occurred during the past week, using a five-point answer scale. There is no time limit and the respondent can return to the preceding answer if he/she so wishes.
