Detailed Description+

The FCB5 test is used for objective and standardized assessment of personality in various application areas, with a focus on the use in personnel selection. FCB5 offers different answer formats in order to make the possible application area as large as possible. Test form S1 uses a forced choice answer format and is especially suited to application areas with a high incentive for misrepresentation (such as personnel selection, academic entrance examinations, traffic psychology). Test forms S2 and S3 use a rating scale answer format and are particularly suited to application areas with a low incentive for misrepresentation (such as research, personnel development, occupational counseling).  Since the optimum answer format can be used for the respective application area, the FCB5 represents a flexible tool for supporting evidence-based decision-making in the field of Human Resources. Wherever possible, the FCB5 test items where formulated in such a way as to refer to working, to ensure a high degree of user-friendliness and to enable a practical interpretation of the results.

Primary areas of application: human resource management, traffic, jobs market, education, sport and research

Test forms+

Three test forms are available. They differ regarding their answer format and degree of differentiation. In the forced choice standard form (S1) the five factors emotional stability, extraversion, openness, conscientiousness and agreeableness are assessed using a forced choice answer format. In the long form rating scale (S2), the five factors emotional stability, extraversion, openness, conscientiousness and agreeableness are assessed through six facets each using a five-point Likert scale. The short form rating scale (S3) captures the five personality factors without differentiating them on the level of facets, still using the same five-point Likert scale as in S2.

Task+

In all three test forms, after general instructions and a practice item have been provided, the test items are presented in a linear fashion. In the forced choice standard form (S1), the respondent is given three statements to rank. In the rating scale of test forms S2 and S3, the respondent must use a five-point answer scale to rate the extent to which the relevant statement applies to them. As soon as an answer has been entered the next item is presented. In all test forms, already given answers can be edited once.
