Detailed Description+

Measures flexible task-switching ability as an aspect of the executive functions.
There are many everyday situations in which rigid adherence to a particular behavior may be dysfunctional. It results in the actor getting no closer to his goal. In such situations it is appropriate and necessary to interrupt an action and switch to another. This special ability test has been developed to identify deficits in this area. It is therefore particularly suitable for use in clinical neuropsychology.
Particular attention has been paid to the need to assess possible impairments independently of other cognitive influences such as language ability or spatial attention. The test can be used to assess neuropsychological deficits, for the preparation of therapeutic intervention and to predict everyday performance.

Test forms+

One test form.

Task+

A sequence of circles and triangles in either light or dark grey is presented. The respondent must react to either the shape (circle or triangle) or brightness (light or dark) of the figure by pressing the appropriate button. The aspect that needs to be attended to changes constantly in the course of the test, so that the respondent must alternate in a predictable rhythm between processing the stimuli on the basis of shape and processing them on the basis of color.
