Field of Application+
Assesses the ability to estimate the speed and direction of movement of objects. Space/time orientation is extremely important in our everyday lives. An essential component of this is the ability to assess speeds and distances accurately. This is relevant in a wide range of situations. In the sporting context it corresponds to the ability to position oneself in accordance with the movements of people or objects. In traffic psychological investigations this test can help to explain an eventful driving history, such as frequent involvement in accidents. The test is also used in personnel selection in the field of manufacturing & safety assessments.

S2: Short form
S3: Linear form
S4: Linear form – time anticipation only
S5: Linear form – time anticipation, screening
A green ball moves about the screen. Its speed and direction of movement vary, depending on the task. The ball disappears at an unforeseen moment and two parallel red lines appear. One line passes through the point where the ball has just disappeared. The other is the target line. Respondents press a button at the moment in which they think the ball should have reached the target line. Respondents also indicate the point at which they think the ball would cross the target line. In both the long form S1 and the short form S2 the tasks vary in difficulty. The ball’s movements are initially linear; it then follows curvilinear paths and finally sinus curves.
