Detailed Description+

The test set TATEENS Talent Assessment Sport Teens 2 assesses performance-related dimensions relevant to the sporting ability of young people.

The test set takes account of the specific requirements associated with the testing of young people. Adolescents aged 11 to 14 can reasonably be expected to tolerate more lengthy testing than children; nevertheless, when compiling the test set care was taken to keep the testing time short. At the same time the test set needed to cover all relevant ability dimensions in order to be suitable for basic testing of young people in the field of sport. Test results of each cognitive dimension are summarized to a FIT score by considering the importance of each dimension for predicting sport talent. The FIT score is a general evaluation of sport-related cognitive abilities and therefore indicates the extent of sport talent.

Validation+

On the basis of theoretical considerations and subsequent validation studies, the dimensions of reaction ability, memory, reactive stress tolerance, focused attention and visual perception were identified as relevant to the prediction of talent. The test set is based on a test battery that for many years was used in the WoGoS project for basic ability assessment of young athletes. During validation in 2015 with several sport clubs (soccer, basketball, volleyball, football and handball) an ideal range for performance was also defined. In addition, the test selection was adapted and new specific norms of trainees were assessed. Whether the respondent matches this ideal range can be calculated and displayed and used to make inter-individual and intra-individual comparisons.
